  4. Note: This is the first test release of the program.
  5. It may be a bit buggy.

  7. At first, Macintosh beep sounds were dull. Then came
  8. digitized sounds. Now...VideoBeep gives you movie clips and
  9. animation.
  10.  
  11. "VideoBeep" is a System Extension (INIT).  
  12. To work properly, you must do the following:
  13.    Place "QuickTime" in your System Folder (or Extensions Folder)
  14.       (note: QuickTime is available only to Apple developers until
  15.       the end of 1991. Please wait your turn.)
  16.    Place "VideoBeep" in your System Folder (or Extensions Folder)
  17.    Place a Movie file named "MovieTest" in the same folder
  18.    Reboot your Mac
  19.    Cause a System beep (open "Page Setup" & click outside the dialog)

  22. Notes:
  23. The "MovieTest" file must not have a space in the name.
  24. It may be an alias to a folder containing several Movie files. The
  25.    Movie files will be played in order.
  26. If you change the "MovieTest" file in any way, reboot.
  27. If the Movie can't be played for some reason, the menubar will flash.
  28. "VideoBeep" currently takes up about 200K of System heap (sorry).
  29. The first time we play (after a reboot), several of the frames are lost.
  30.    This will be fixed as soon as I get around to it.
  31. So as not to annoy you too much, we just flash the menubar if we're
  32.     called in rapid succession (double beeping was really bugging me).
  33. To disable, drag the Extension out of the System or Extensions folder
  34.     and reboot.
